- Hi All,
-
- I'm just wondering what the performance difference will be if running
- Lightwave PC under Win95 vs. Win/NT. Should there be no difference?
-
- BTW, I'm currently running the Final Beta Preview version of Win95, and can
- report that it is quite stable (at least more stable than Win3.x and a bit
- more stable than WfW3.11.) Memory/resource management is *much* improved over
- earlier versions of 16-bit Windows, and Win95 does promise
- multitasking/multithreading of properly designed 32-bit apps. I like the new
- interface of Win95 a lot more than the (now) somewhat dated interface used in
- Win/NT (which is the same as that of Win3.x and WfW, for those that do not
- know.)
-
- Also, from what I've heard/actually tested myself using the Win95 Preview,
- Win95 offers better compatibility with older 16-bit apps than Win/NT, as well
- as better driver support for a larger base of hardware accessories.
-
- My preliminary assessment seems to indicate that Win95 is better suited to
- stand alone setups than Win/NT (even though networking capabilities are
- included with Win95.) I know that Win/NT offers OpenGL graphics support, but
- what further rationale is there for selecting NT over 95 for a single user
- setup in terms of doing animation using Lightwave?
